Parisian Cocktail

Parisian Cocktail drink recipe

Parisian Cocktail

Parisian Cocktail – What better way to commemorate the opening of the Eiffel Tower and in true ugly American style, get liqueured up, climbing the Eiffel Tour and spitting on tourists below?  Slight problem… I’m not in Paris so I’ll just have to settle for gettin’ liqueured up and shouting French slurs at the Mexican landscapers working below my apartment balcony…

Parisian Cocktail:

  • 1 oz dry vermouth
  • 1 oz gin
  • 1/4 oz  crème de cassis

Drink Tip: Before getting drunk and shouting obscenities at people outside your home, make sure you have an escape rout, you’d be surprised at teh damage a leaf blower can do when used as a weapon…

Skinny Dipper

Skinny Dipper drink recipe with Midori melon liqueur and cranberry juice

Skinny Dipper

Skinny Dipper: I like it!… the drink that is… and hey, I don’t mind skinny dipping but I’m not sure how enjoyable me skinny dipping would be for everyone else!?  Don’t mean to put that image in your head but is there really nothing better than a cool swim on a warm night sans the trunks?

Skinny Dipper:

  • 2 oz Midori (melon liqueur)
  • 6 oz cranberry juice

Drink Tip: Mix it up in a shaker with ice… the drink that is, not you! “…you don’t understand. There was shrinkage.”

The Doubloon

The Doubloon drink recipe

The Doubloon

The DoubloonArrrr matey, today’s drink be The Doubloon… another name for this drink is a June Bug, lame I know so that’s why I went with The Doubloon.  One sounds like something your grandma would drink while cooling herself on the front porch swing while the other sounds like something you’d swill while looting and plundering villages (we’re talking cool Johnny Depp pirates here not the Somali kind…)  This drink looks like yesterday’s drink of the day… must be the sour mix because everything else is different.  Another very tasty drink, especially if you like pineapple juice…

The Doubloon:

  • 2 oz coconut rum
  • 1 oz Midori (melon liqueur)
  • 1 oz banana liqueur
  • 3 oz pineapple juice
  • 1oz sweet and sour mix
  • cherry on top… if you’re into that sort of thing

Drink Tip: I highly recommend wearing an eye-patch and chasing neighborhood kids with a plastic sword while knocking these back…

Nuclear Iced Tea

Nuclear Iced Tea drink recipe with vodka, gin, rum, triple sec, melon liqueur, sour mix and 7-Up.

Nuclear Iced Tea

Nuclear Iced Tea – This drink was scheduled for today in the book to commemorate Three Mile Island… almost seems too soon considering recent (and ongoing) event in Japan… but it’s such a tasty drink I couldn’t pass it up….

Nuclear Iced Tea:

  • 1/2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz rum
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • 1/2 oz melon liqueur
  • sour mix
  • lemon lime soda (7-Up/Sprite)

Drink Tip: Pretty tasty and may look like a kid’s drink but go easy on this on or you may have a meltdown!

Red Vodkatini

Red Vodkatini drink with Khrushchev and Nixon

Sharing a Red Vodkatini with Khrushchev and Nixon

Red Vodkatini – Ahhh yes, the gool ol’ days of knocking back vodka drinks with our Cold War buddies… Nixon was an angry drunk, would start wars, break into office buildings and steal stuff… Khrushchev on the other hand… a real party guy and popular with the ladies…

Red Vodkatini:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz vermouth
  • splash of crème de cassis
  • orange slice

Drink Tip: Know your limit – what kind of drunk are you?  Me?  I’m a happy drunk… I’ve been told I should drink more often…

Death From Above

Death From Above drink recipe

Death From Above

Death From Above: Yes, death from above is right… death that rains down fire and glass shrapnel from above!  OK, so maybe this is my fault… we’ve all learned back in 3rd grade science class that mixing hot and cold can have a violent reaction… but I was following the instruction in “the book”… I’m a very trusting kind of guy!

Death From Above:

  • 1 oz bacardi 151 rum (yes, you read that right…1 oz)
  • 1 oz gin
  • 3 oz cola

Drink Tip: The instructions I had said to freeze the glass so it’s nice and cold.  Pour in the rum and gin, light it on fire and then our in the Coke…  I did all that, lit it on fire, poured in the cola (Dr. Pepper) and then *ka-pow* … so my tip… if ya wanna play with fire, don’t freeze the glass…

Gilligan’s Island

Gilligan's Island mix drink recipe with Ginger and Mary Ann

Gilligan's Island

Gilligan’s Island – Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a tasty drink…  Didn’t have any orange juice (too lazy to go to the store) so I squeezed a couple oranges – I think that makes this drink a bit more authentic though… they had a lot of things on that island but they couldn’t make a run to the store either.  One thing I’m really surprised about this drink is that there isn’t any coconut juice in it, or at least some coconut rum…?  Think I may have to re-invent this drink…

Gilligan’s Island:

  • 1 oz peach schnapps
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 3 oz orange juice
  • 3 oz cranberry juice

Drink Tip: The big question is always Ginger or Mary Ann… I’d like to thing that girls these days are a little more open minded and there’s no reason to exclude anyone…

Gumbo Fizz

Gumbo Fizz drink recipe

Gumbo Fizz – This is a pretty good drink… I did find quite a few different recipes for this drink.  The recipe I went with is pretty close to mix drink recipe for a “Frog” with the only difference being the addition  of club soda.

Gumbo Fizz:

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • 2.5 oz club soda
  • top it off with sweet & sour mix to your liking…

Drink Tip: Mix up a few and do a taste test.  Unlike most other recipes this one doesn’t have any cream but does use sour mix. I like it but haven’t tried any of the other recipes yet.  Let me know what you think…

Shark’s Tooth

Shark's Tooth drink recipe

Shark's Tooth

Shark’s Tooth – When a shark breaks a tooth another grows in… unfortunately when I break a took I get to spend a day  (and possibly a couple more) sitting in a dentist’s chair.  What better way to dull the pain than with a Shark Tooth of your very own…

Shark’s Tooth:

  • 1½ oz dark rum
  • 1/4 oz line juice
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz grenadine (the blood!)
  • splash of soda water

Drink Tip: Want to avoid breaking a tooth… drink more and eat less popcorn… stupid kernels!

Naked Pretzel

Naked Pretzel drink recipe

Naked Pretzel

Naked Pretzel – Soooo…. a Naked Pretzel…. Whenever I write the blog posts for these drinks I usually search for an image that I can include with my image above.  I’m thinking “OK, what’s a naked pretzel… a pretzel with no salt…?  So I typed “naked pretzel” into Google’s image search… well let’s just say that a naked pretzel has absolutley nothing to do with baked snacks!  Just a warning, doing an image serch for “naked pretzel” is not a safe search on your office computer…

Naked Pretzel

  • 3/4 oz vodka
  • 1 oz melon liqueur
  • 1/2 Crème de Cassis
  • 2 oz pineapple juice

Drink Tip: A few of these Naked Pretzels and you may have the opportunity for a naked pretzel of a different kind *wink*
